Care
Each Middleson piece is handcrafted from local Louisiana hardwood, using trees that have already fallen. Our hands and hearts guide every step, from the first cut to the final polish, reviving pieces of history and giving them new life.
With proper care, each piece can last a lifetime. We entrust this responsibility to our collectors. If you’ve taken the time to invest in a unique piece, you’ll want to preserve it for future generations.
Some of our pieces are designed solely for display, while others can be used to serve select dishes. We recommend using most pieces for cold dishes unless otherwise specified. The care routine differs between display and serving pieces.
Display pieces should simply be wiped with a damp, lint-free cloth and lightly coated with mineral oil when needed.
For serving pieces, avoid the dishwasher and submersion in water. Wash immediately after use with warm water and mild soap, then dry thoroughly. Reapply a food-safe oil, such as mineral, tung, linseed, or walnut.
Each piece is coated with natural, local beeswax, which acts as a waterproofing agent. It can be reapplied after every few washes to maintain the finish.
